Tuesday November 17, 2015

The 47th annual Bay of Plenty Sports Awards will be held on December 4th at the ASB Arena in Mount Maunganui.

Holland Beckett Lawyers is delighted to support these awards as the sponsor of the “Sportswoman of the Year”  category. This category is open to any individuals who has excelled in one or more sports and has performed to an exceptional level in the 2014/2015 year. This person has performed with a sense of fair play and has also made a contribution as an ambassador to the sport and the region.

In 2014 the recipient of the award was Julia Edward, who also took out the Supreme Sportsperson of the Year Award. Julia won gold and silver in the world cup series with the highlight of her career was not only winning Gold in women’s lightweight double scull at the World Rowing Championships  but in a world best time. This achievement was recognised by her being a Finalist in 2014 World Rowing Female Crew of the Year.
The calibre of entries is always high, which confirms the large pool of talent we have in the Bay of Plenty.

The Bay of Plenty Sports Awards are considered the ultimate celebration of sporting excellence in the Bay of Plenty, with 100’s of nominations as well as over 500 guests at the Awards Ceremony. The Awards evening is an excellent night for all involved and there is nothing better than the young, up and coming athletes to be sitting alongside their heroes, being recognised in the same space.

The Peoples Choice Award is a fun campaign which gives all sport supporters the opportunity to participate in via Facebook and vote for their favourite junior athlete. Every vote goes in the draw to win a mini-ipad powered by Vodafone. Details are available on www.facebook.com/sportbop.co.nz until the 18th of November.
