Michael is a partner at Holland Beckett specialising in civil litigation, employment law and Waitangi Tribunal / Maori land law matters.

Michael’s practice has been in the area of litigation throughout his career with a particular focus on employment law and Maori issues. He has extensive court experience at the District Court, High Court, Court of Appeal and Waitangi Tribunal.

Michael has a particular interest in alternative dispute resolution with experience conducting a number of mediations.

After completing his legal qualifications in Queensland, Michael moved to New Zealand and commenced practice in a firm in Taupo before moving to Holland Beckett in 1994. He has been a partner at the firm since 1998.

During his time in practice he has also completed a Master of Jurisprudence at Waikato University and a Labour Law Masters at London School of Economics during a sabbatical.

Michael is actively involved in the local community, being a trustee for the local Police Youth scheme and the Baywide Community Law Centre.
