Emma Miles joined Holland Beckett as an Associate in July 2016 and is based in our Rotorua office but regularly travels to our offices in Opotiki and Whakatane. Emma specialises in the areas of employment, relationship property, family and dispute resolution, where she takes a pragmatic approach to resolving disputes.
Emma has had over 20 years' experience of owning and running businesses, both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom, which has led her naturally into the area of employment law. Immediately prior to joining Holland Beckett, Emma worked in a Waikato law firm where she advised farming clients in the areas of employment, health and safety and relationship property and prior to this worked for a union in Rotorua, advising members on restructures and negotiating collective agreements. Emma has presented numerous seminars on the areas of employment and health and safety and written articles on these areas as well as on protecting assets in relationship property.
Emma also advises on separations, contracting out agreements (pre-nups), relationship property agreements, family disputes, protection orders and applications to the court to appoint a welfare guardian and/or property manager. Previous study of a BSc in Psychology means that Emma is able to deal with the most sensitive family/relationship issues with understanding and professionalism.
