Phil Kai Fong
Phil has recently joined Holland Beckett following the merger with Rotorua law firm McKechnie Quirke & Lewis.
After studying in Wellington, he returned to the Bay of Plenty in 1994 to commence practice with Cooney Lees Morgan, before becoming a partner at McKechnie Quirke & Lewis in 2008.
His practice has an emphasis on transactional property work with particular interest in property development, subdivisions, and unit title developments. Phil’s practice also incorporates residential conveyancing, business sale and purchase transactions, commercial leases, and trusts.
Phil has had a long-time association with Bay of Plenty cricket extending from his days as a senior club player, through to coaching, managing, and selecting age-group representative teams. He also enjoys travelling, time in the gym and a casual round of golf.
Phil Kai Fong acted for our development company on a $120m high-quality residential development built through the recent difficult years of the Global Financial Crisis.
This was a challenging time for all involved, with purchasers defaulting, the prime funder selling out, and the various consequences that flow from such events.
Phil remained calm under pressure throughout, always well informed, courteous and helpful, and respected by all the various parties involved.
As a result of this experience we will be retaining Phil for future projects, and can recommend him highly to anyone.
