Richard has recently joined Holland Beckett following the merger with Rotorua law firm McKechnie Quirke & Lewis.
Richard is a born and bred Mainlander raised in Christchurch and graduating LLB from Otago in 1976, and then admitted to the bar in the Christchurch High Court in 1977. After brief positions in law firms in Christchurch and Blenheim he moved to Rotorua in 1978. He has been a partner in three different firms, principally in the firm created in 1988 which became McKechnie Quirke & Lewis. He has had a career interest in property and small business legal matters, farming and has acted for a number of clubs and societies.
A keen follower of many sports, and having played squash, cricket and being involved in activities such as trout fishing and snow skiing, Richard has also been involved in the past as a committee member and chairperson of several sports and other society organisations. He retains a keen interest in gardening, fishing, fitness activities and especially snow skiing.
