Christie Goodspeed and Sam Tabak have joined the partnership at Holland Beckett Law.

Holland Beckett Law partner Vanessa Hamm says the firm has been expanding over recent years with an emphasis on growing its specialist teams.

“Christie and Sam are both great examples of the firm attracting talented, experienced specialist lawyers who can build a team and provide quality legal advice to clients. The depth and strength of our specialist teams has been key to attracting new work from large corporate and public sector clients who often have a panel of legal advisors to select from.”

The new partners bring Holland Beckett Law’s total number of partners to 12 with 105 employees over four offices in the Bay of Plenty.

Christie Goodspeed leads Holland Beckett’s Employment and Family Law teams. Christie specialises in all employment related matters from structuring relationships, policy drafting, restructurings, sale and purchase of business/shares, and dealing with disputes, including personal grievance claims. She also advises on relationship property matters, including structuring arrangements, contracting out agreements, and division of relationship property upon separation or death. Her particular interest is advising on complex matters involving companies and trusts.

Prior to joining Holland Beckett two years ago, Christie worked as a senior associate at pwc Australia, based in Sydney working with large corporate clients and high net worth individuals, alongside their professional advisors. Before moving to Sydney, Christie worked at Buddle Findlay and Tompkins Wake. Christie and her husband live at Omokoroa which provides the perfect lifestyle to raise their three young children.

Sam Tabak is the third partner in Holland Beckett’s high calibre Commercial Team. Sam has experience on a wide range of finance, corporate, restructuring and international trade transactions. In addition, Sam specialises in aviation and asset finance, focussing principally on financing, leasing, acquisitions and sales but also advising in areas such as trade sanctions, disputes and repossessions. Sam has extensive experience in the aviation sector, including a one year secondment with a leading aircraft lessor in Ireland. Sam has continued to act for international aviation clients since returning to New Zealand, which is testimony to Sam’s expertise.

Sam grew up in Tauranga and has recently returned with his family after a number of years in the UK. Prior to joining Holland Beckett, Sam worked in London for eight years in two leading international asset and structured finance practices – most recently, as co-leader of the international aviation practice at Freshfields. Before moving to London, Sam worked in a leading banking and finance practice in Auckland. Sam is also a board member of the Tauranga Chamber of Commerce.
